    Research Area:
    Complex flow phenomena in high speed flow with phase changes which are the bases of achieving high efficiency and high reliability for thermal and nuclear power plants have been studied. Researches for stripping mechanism from liquid film to droplets on low pressure steam turbine blades and inlet air cooling of gas turbines are focused on. Dynamic simulation for a generator system that includes big difference for characteristic times of generator motions is also one of the research activities. Hybrid power system of gas turbine and fuel cell is expected to show high thermal efficiency in the near future. Dynamic system simulation is developed to evaluate system characteristic for start up, shutdown, and emergency cases.

    Research Area:
    An idea of maintenance technology has been introduced in operating power plants in order to maintain stable electric power supply. Such technology is believed to help preventing unexpected shutdown of the plants. Under operational conditions, the material degradation initiate from its surface where the material contacts with an environment. The surface and interfacial reactions and these behaviors when those are exposed to the environment are focused on. In order to consider realistic and reasonable plant conditions, special emphases are put to simulate stress and surface state of structural components used in the plants. Establish the prediction and mitigation methodologies for the material degradation in the plants are aimed.
